I’ll be at least one in a thousand — that’s the news from Quarry Books, the publisher releasing 1000 Quilt Inspirations, a new book to be released in the near future. Dr. Sandra Sider, a New York quilt artist and independent curator, will be selecting the winning designs.
The Call for Entries states, in part, that Quarry Books is looking for
innovative interpretations of old favorites as well as original blocks and art quilts designed by you that explore the possibilities of modular design.
I submitted eleven art quilts and I have no idea which one(s) have been selected for the book. They promise more news about the project in April.
Even better news: the deadline for entering this Call for Entries has been extended to March 31, 2014. See the official Call with all the details you need here.

Thank you for the reminder. I’d originally thought, “I have nothing,” but when I thought about it today…I do have a couple of things. I submitted them, but have no idea if they are 300 dpi (how do you know?) or whether the images are the proper size. I can figure out the pixels, but not whether it turns out 8″ x8″. There’s more to this submission thing than one might think!
Congratulations on your inclusion. woohoo!! Franki is on a roll!! 🙂

Thanks Suzanne!
Ah, images, yes this can seem tricky. I use Photoshop to size my images for each Call for Entry. In this software you can click on the ‘Image’ tab and see a lot of information about the image you have on the screen –including pixel size and the overall size in inches. You can adjust those figures in the appropriate boxes to meet the requirements of the Call. At the same time, each Call usually has a protocol for naming files. When I’m done with the size requirements, I save this new file according to the naming rules for that Call. I hope this helps. If not, email me and we can discuss further.
