I’m thrilled to share that Forget Me Not: Collaboration with Grandma has been juried into By Hand: Extraordinary Craft in California which will open at the Pence Gallery in Davis, CA, on February 8, 2013.
This is the first juried exhibit of fine craft that the Pence will host. Their definition of the term ‘fine craft’ is “…work that is cutting-edge and has the highest standard of workmanship; and work that is innovative in its use of materials and aesthetic vision.” Media for this exhibit may include metal, wood, clay, textiles, paper, stone or mixed media.
Juror Julie M. Muñiz is the Imogene Gieling Curator of Decorative Arts at the Oakland Museum of California where she oversees the collection of historical and contemporary craft and design objects.
The opening reception is Friday, February 8 from 6 – 9 p.m. If you are in the area, I hope you’ll stop by to see the exhibit and say hello.

Your grandmothers beautiful embroidery is treated with great respect! Did you learn to sew alongside your grandma?
