Finally. And I have to say that it is pretty wonderful to have my own art in my life again. Click on image for a larger view.
And here’s a detail.
When I began quilting the artichoke panel, I had in mind a simple straight-line design to complete the borders. When I finished the panel I didn’t like that idea at all. The leaf and the pebble quilting screamed CURVES, SOFT, and ORGANIC to me. So I quilted a simple leaf design instead. I’m very happy I listened to the work.
As an aside: There were some frustrating issues with machine tension that threw me for a loop. After a lot of unsuccessful tries to correct the issue, I finally went to YouTube (thanks Carol!) and found a woman who was addressing tension adjustments on the machine I have, a Janome 6500. She said something I’ve never heard: Before changing the tension selection for the machine, always raise the pressure foot and the needle. Hmmmm, I wasn’t certain what I was doing in that regard so I tried to change the tension with the pressure foot and the needle down. No success. Then I raised the pressure foot and the needle and made the tension adjustment and it improved the tension greatly. I finally got it fine tuned and was on my way. Lesson learned. I put a note on my machine to remind me of this.

Look lovely. Have most of my quilting toys packed away for the big move, to come. Just clearing the house so that they can take photos. Oh, I so want to have this behind me and quietly be sewing/quilting. Have too many art quilts and the grans are starting to have babies. Maybe will make them Art Quilts for baby quilts. Some day in the future. I love the curves on your piece.
