I have made it a practice not to begin something new until I have completed the current project and most of the time I stick to that habit. I’m very glad that I broke from my routine and created Ginkgos in the Round. It was a very satisfying project which I think could yield a fun series.
It measures 12″ x 12″. I used a fat quarter of hand-dyed fabric and more than a full spool (164 yards to the spool) of 50-weight silk-finish cotton thread. And yes, I opened the spool for this project and had to go to the store to buy another spool to complete the thread painting.

Beautiful and airy and a perfect piece for my link to your blog today.
Thanks Gurli! I’m looking forward to checking out your Blog Hop responses.
Beautiful — and I’m so glad you linked to the earlier post; life’s been busy and I hadn’t read it. Seeing the beginnings, reading of your experiences, and now seeing it finished is fascinating!
Thank you Cindi. I love the process of creating so I like to share the whole journey. I’m glad to hear it’s interesting to others as well.
Fantastic, do you do it with a small stitch on your machine.. or regular stitch.. beautiful!
Vivian, this is all free-motion and I don’t have a stitch regulator on my machine. Thanks for the kudos.
Love, love, love it! 🙂
Thank, thank, thank you!
Beautiful!
Thank you, Karen.
That is a really stunning piece Franki. I love ginkgo leaves and am patiently waiting for my little tree I planted 5 or 6 years ago to grow bigger. You did a beautiful job on this.
Thank you, Kay. I must admit, I never tire of the beautiful shapes of the leaves.

Thanks!

Thank you LeeAnna!
Difficult patterns to stitch!
I’ve created these leaves often enough that they go smoothly for me now. I just love their elegant shapes.
