I’ve completed the final lesson of Carla Sonheim‘s Junk Mail Artist Book series. There was more painting, more drawing. . .then changing of the mind involving more painting and more drawing. At some point one has to say it’s time to stop. Done and done. And here it is. Be sure to click on an image for a larger view and clearer understanding of the page overlap.
This brain-teaser was a lot of fun. Who doesn’t have a near-endless supply of junk mail? And I had all the other art supplies in my studio.
See the progress of this project here and here.
I really love this, Franki! And so different from what you usually do, you’ve got hidden talents! 🙂
Thanks you Meta! Yes, very different from my ‘ususal.’ The sketching classes I’ve taken have really opened doors for me and I plan to keep them open.
This is such a wonderful project. I hope you keep it out on a table in the house, open, so everyone can enjoy it. Beautifully realized, girlfriend!
Thanks Dale! I’m happy with the book, too. I hadn’t considered keeping it out so thanks for the suggestion.
It is delightful! Beautifully done and I love your sense of humor. You are inspiring!
Karen, thank you. It was worth every bit of angst. And the praise I’m getting here will keep me going.
It’s fun and fab, Franki!!! Is that an iconic Franki persimmon in there???? I love that you are having so much fun with stretching. One of these days, I’ll be out from under the load of this new organization and get back into my studio….so needing it.
xoxoSherry
You are doing much needed and very rewarding work. Your studio will be there when you’re ready to get back into it. Let me know when that happens!
This is delightful! Can’t help but giggle over the comment above re: “iconic Franki persimmon”. What fun this must have been. Yes, it is coffee table appropriate!
Thanks Jenny! Yep, got the persimmon in there but not the seriously iconic ginkgo — now, think about that (serious stretch). It was a lot of fun and, in fact, worth doing again just to keep the brain flexible.
I was way out in left field thinking that the line drawings were enough. I love the colors. You get a prize for the best use of color and line!
With each of the lessons I thought “Well, what else can we do with this? We must be done.” But no, she was right, it always needed more. Thanks for the kudos.
