I am having some fun with the blank junk-mail postcards I produced earlier. These cards lend themselves to all kinds of art making and I would like to do more sketching. Here is one that I dashed off and put in the mail to friend. Click on the image for a larger view.
Let’s face it, we can all use a silly bird some days! And a quick sketch after doing some must-do chores is a great reward for me. Here are a couple that I have done in the last few days.
These last two have joined the mixed-media postcards I did earlier in the month, ready to be mailed off. They have been sprayed with a protective coating. It feels good to sketch again and to be producing work I can share with friends and family.
Be strong. Be patient. Be kind.

Thanks Nancy. These little ditties are great fun. Check out the category for Junk Mail and the one for Sketch/Watercolor to see all the sketching work I’ve posted here.

Love that you are back to Junk Mail postcards. In 2014, I discovered your post showing the process for applying gesso to create a canvas. I have not stopped since! So many postcards created and so much fun just trying coloring techniques. If the result is unsatisfactory, no great expense wasted. Of course, what happens is that the junk mail card is reworked until I am happy. LOL Thank you for sharing.

Hi Liz!
I love being back to these little treats as well! Did you ever try the Junk Mail Artist Book that I posted about — also 2014? It was a fun project and a real brain worker. That project is what got me going with the postcards. And you’re right….when you create something you don’t like on these, you can simply paint or paper over it and start again. Couldn’t be easier. Glad you are enjoying it. Thank you for hanging out with me here.

Loved making Postcards. I gave my collection to quilters for ideas. Downsizing can be a test of separation. Love your cards!
Next is trying to figure out which books to keep and hope sometime to do a craft quilter book sale.

I am rotating small groups of the postcards we made with Postmark’d Art and enjoying them. I often think of those lovely women that we came to know through their art. Thanks for stopping by with your comment. And for the kudos on my junk-mail postcards. They have been quite fun for me, especially since I am getting back to sketching on them. Yes, downsizing is a test of separation. But you are moving forward — just keep your eye on the goal. Best to you.
