I’ve managed to get a couple more sketches done on the junk mail postcards I created earlier here. I saw my first Handkerchief tree late last summer and was smitten with the seed pods which littered the base of this huge tree. I have enjoyed seeing them every day since. The stems of the pods are quite long. Here you see one stem that is very gently curved while the second one is quite bent and went off the page for this sketch. The shape of that particular pod sits up quite easily on its own. See images of this stunning tree here. Click on an image for a larger view.
I live in Portland so there are plenty of delightful bicycles around every day. Here is one I saw at Splendid Cycles — and isn’t this one just so! The compartment up front could pack someone’s supplies for the day or a small child. The link above will show you many more models to marvel at.
And since you cannot see the entire photo in my featured image for this posting, here it is:
I rounded up 7 red things — a daily prompt from an on-line class I’m taking — to create this image. I think it took me all of sixty seconds to gather them. Sitting around on their own they’re not much to look at. But how fun they are gathered together. What would your 7 red things look like?
Be strong. Be patient. Be kind.

It took me 20 seconds to find seven red items. Two are on the wall so I won’t take them down.
I wish I had space for a handkerchief tree in my yard. I would have chosen it over the parrotia — or maybe the dogwood. How delightful. Lives up to its name.

Now take photos of your 7 red items and assemble them into one photo like I did. It’s fun to see them together in one image. And now you see why I was so taken by the handkerchief tree! The blooms and the seedpods are incredible.
