Back in mid-August I started a new quilt for my bed. You can see all the how-to details here. It took several weeks to complete the king-size top. And the lovely bonus is that I had more blocks than needed for the bed quilt so I was able to create a second quilt for those times when a nap is a must.
And here are the results. Click on an image for a larger view.
I am very happy with the colors I chose for this quilt. The blue and white are the very traditional, clean look, then the slime lime plasters a happy face all over it! Here’s a close up of the quilting. I found a local long-arm quilter to quilt both quilts. I am very happy with what she did.
I always enjoy trimming and binding quilts. It was extra nice to be doing it during winter. The “nap quilt” has a dark-blue border and lime binding which quickly distinguishes it from the larger bed quilt. It measures 70″ square. The king-sized quilt measures 102″ square.
And here is a detail showing the backings and binding on each quilt.
I purchased the 108″-square backing for the king-sized quilt and I used fabric from my stash for the smaller quilt.
And here are some new pillow cases to go with the new quilts. We’re ready for Spring!

Good to see you ‘alive’ again.
I love all the pops of color in the new quilts. And the pillowcases are a delight! Good work.

Another beautiful quilt. Did you get a long arm?
Franki Kohler says
Thanks Donna! No, I had that quilt stitched by a pro with a long arm. I don’t have the room or the inclination to quilt king-sized bed quilts anymore!
