If you haven’t seen this exhibit yet, it is still showing at
Maloof Foundation for Arts & Crafts
Alta Loma, CA
through June 29, 2025
My art quilt Eucalyptus is included in the exhibit:
Eucalyptus uses three botanical prints of eucalyptus leaves on silk fabric pieced together with botanical-dyed cotton fabric. Each print is roughly 5” x 3”. Machine quilting and hand embroidery complete the design. The finished measurement is 12” x 12”. See the original posting about this art quilt here.
Printed & Stitched features 58 original works exploring the connection between printing and stitching, all by members of the Studio Art Quilt Associates (California/Nevada Regions) and the California Society of Printmakers.
Printed imagery and sewn fibers are a seemingly ancient combination. Printmakers often reference fiber and stitching, while textile artists/art quilters incorporate printed elements into their work. At their confluence there is pigment and pressure, woven layers, and borders sewn with fiber. There is color and also texture, form, intention, ingenuity, and many stories. Textile and print go hand in hand, and the combinations are constantly being reinvented.
I hope you can see this exhibit. The next venue is Cannon Gallery in Carlsbad, CA, opening July 20.
