There are few things that scream summer like strawberries. And we are enjoying our share of beautiful strawberries that arrive each week in our box from Shooting Star CSA. Click on image for larger view.
I couldn’t resist a calm sketching moment with the last few berries in the basket.
Tommy Kane, one of the 6 Sketchbook Skool instructors that led me on-line in sketching, assigned sketching our kitchen. Tommy is all about detail. The only way to understand that statement is to visit his site. Here’s my rendering of a portion of my kitchen:
I think that Tommy would have sketched the grain of the wood but this was enough detail for me. I was able to do this in 2 sittings — about 1 1/2 hours each. Tommy often spends 8 hours or more on a sketch. His style is instructive, to say the least.
I’m looking forward to the next Sketchbook Skool class which starts in July — another 6 weeks with another 6 instructors. The change of teaching and sketching styles keeps this class fresh and my creative mojo moving.
What are you doing to keep your creative mojo fresh?

Just start anything, I guess! 🙂
Lovely drawings, you’re good at it!

You’re so right, Meta; the whole point is that you’re creating so anything will do. One just has to keep moving forward.

Cute red berries! Your sketching is soo very good! We got the cutest card yesterday from the Kohler family. Yes, it was a blast of a time. Can’t believe we crammed so much fun in…and got pictures to prove it. hugs  Â

I’m so enjoying your work, Franki. It’s my regular infusion of inspiration!

Thanks! It continues to be fun. I like having the mix of paper and paint and then fabric and thread. It just feels right.

I love seeing your sketches!…my creative mojo has been taken over by getting our new art center up and running. No time to be creative with art making…just working for the good of the community for now. One of these day…..!

Don’t kid yourself, Sherry, it takes a lot of create mojo to do what you’re doing! Sending you all my best wishes for this new work.

Hi Franki – Somehow I missed your posts about your sketching and experiences with the online class. Love seeing your progress and what you did with Tommy’s challenge to draw your kitchen. I’ve continued to sketch most every day since taking the Sketchbook Skool class and have signed up for the next session that starts in July. I allow myself to spend a lot of time on one drawing when I have time, but don’t want that to become an excuse when I’m too busy. A 5 minute drawing is still a drawing!!!

Priscilla, you are my inspiration! Thanks for stopping by and checking out my sketches. I have not been as faithful as you have to the sketchbook, but I have enrolled in the next Sketchbook Skool session as well as another class on line with Val Webb which will focus on drawing dogs and cats — I can’t wait! I also just checked out Carla Sonheim’s website and would love to do her junk mail journal class. So many choices! So little time.
