The compartments in the leaf are getting smaller and I’m familiar with the stitches in the next few compartments, so the project is steaming right along. The next section is stitched with Blanket Stitch and Colonial Knots. Laura calls for French Knots but I’ve always been a fan of the Colonial Knot because they won’t fall over on their side. All of the compartments begin stitching with the Perle Cotton used for the outline of the leaf and end with the darker alternate Perle Cotton. Click on an image for a larger view.
Sorry, but I’ve been getting carried away with myself and have forgotten to stop to take photos. The compartment left of the Blanket Stitches is filled with alternating lines of chain stitch. Simple, but elegant I think. And it adds a bit of movement. Above the Blanket Stitches are alternating lines of running stitch.
Next came Cross Stitch.
And now a compartment with rows of Colonial Knots. Here are the first rows. The alternating rows are seen in the next photo.
The final compartment uses Needle Weaving. New to me, but not difficult.
So there it is. I should be able to complete the Needle Weaving section tonight. Stay tuned. There’s more to this small project to come.
If you are new here, welcome! You can see where this project started here.
What are you working on that is soothing and is helping you get through the unpredictable days?
Be strong. Be patient. Be kind.
