The phenomenon of social media has tweaked lives, mine included. Just this week I checked out a photo album on a site for Frankfurt American High School and found 2 photos of myself in my drill team uniform on the football field. (Frankfurt is one of 2 high schools I attended in Germany during the 1960’s; I graduated high school in New Mexico.) Suddenly I was transported to 1966 on a cold Saturday lining up for half-time shenanigans. Those days hold a lot of fond memories for me.
From the left, row #4 — not including the first person in the line, I’m the only full-face person in the row and the only one smiling. At least I was having a good time! The uniforms are black corduroy jumpers with snappy gold eagle buttons (Go Eagles!) over deep gold turtleneck shirts. Gotta love the white gloves, shoes and socks. We are looking so snappy.
Here, I’m in the rear horizontal row, far right. I’m looking very serious — either I’m straining to hear the next instruction or I’m trying to decide what to wear to the dance that night at the Eagle’s Nest (Teen Club). I’d place my money on the latter.
Okay, back to my studio today for a shot of my…..what the???
Yes, my favorite light fixture from the 1960’s, a Lava Lamp.
