It’s been a while since I shared any progress on my work. I’ve completed 7 more of the 1″ circles of the Sue Spargo sampler. The designs continue to introduce me to new stitches and the fact that these gems are just 1″ is a serious challenge for sizing. But I persevere. Click on images for closer view.
This circle is surrounded by a Beaded Coral Stitch which I found quite charming. The center design uses the Bullion Knott in a variegated yellow, dotted with Colonial Knots.
The next circle is a pineapple design: who knew they could have a purple top? The circle is hugged with a simple Chain Stitch. The body of the pineapple is created with a Couching stitch using 2 wool threads. The top is worked in Turkey Work; the stem is worked in Palestrina Knot and the bottom leaves are Detached Chain Stitch.
The next circle took me back to work in the first row of circles — Bullion Rose. Once that was anchored it was surrounded by Bullion Knots and the outer circle is completed with Cast On Bullion.
The Oyster Stitch snugged into Fly Stitch creates the central design of the next circle. The circle is hugged by Beaded Closed Fly stitch. That’s a lot of tiny beads!
Just 2 stitches are used in the next circle. Bullion Knot surrounds the circle in a variegated purple thread; Fly Stitch is in yellow and more bullion Knots are inserted in the ‘v’ of the Fly Stitch.
I just love this little blow fish! The circle is surrounded by Chain Stitch. The tail and fin are constructed with Woven Picot. The eye uses Whipped Woven Circle and Colonial Knot. The mouth is Raised Cup Stitch. The body is covered in Pistil Stitch and Colonial Knots. Whew. Cute, huh?
The final circle here is a simple cluster of 3 bugs and 3 flowers surrounded by Chain Stitch. Bullion Knots and Straight Stitch create the bugs; Detached Chain and Colonial Knots create the flowers.
So, what do you think? Should I keep going?

OMG. This project would be the ultimate punishment for me.
LOL Different strokes for different folks, huh?
