Progress is happening, one circle at a time. Another new stitch for me which I like quite a bit. The Cast On Bullion Knot lends some serious panache as it circles a tight cluster of Colonial Knots. I love the depth created by these two stitches as well. Click on images for a larger view.
After several challenging circles, it was fun to have the simple stitches here. This little circle of Fly Stitch, Detached Chain Stitch and Colonial Knots looks to me like it could jump up and roll right off the wool fabric it is stitched on. It makes me smile.
Next up: A balloon! At least it makes me think of a balloon. Chain Stitch and Colonial Knots are tethered by a short string of Palestrina Knots. Pure joy!
The eighth circle in this first row seems almost royal: Tete de Boeuf Stitch circles the outer edge with Bullion Knot Stitch nested inside every other one. The center is a tight cluster of Colonial Knots. Some razzle dazzle here.

Until next time….
Be strong. Be patient. Be kind.

And I can not try anything new! Back to packing!
Franki Kohler says
The photograph fools you about the size, doesn’t it? Remember that these are just 1″ circles. That would make a modest dessert indeed! They are little sweet treats nonetheless.
Gay Young says
Wow, Franki!! Marvelous! Your work is simply flawless.
Franki Kohler says
Thank you Gay. It is taking more time than I imagined but I am learning new stitches that I have to practice before I attempt the final circle. It’s been well worth the effort though. More to come so stay tuned.
Christy says
You are doing the instructor proud. I bet she would love to see your progress.
Franki Kohler says
I wish that were so but I have no contact with Sue. I bought this as a kit and have been winging it. I’m using her book on stitches and YouTube fills in where I’m not clear on the ‘how.’ It’s working.
