Oh my goodness! More cuteness abounds on this little circle of grey wool. Palestrina Knot surrounds the circle. Bullion Knot Stitch in alternating brown and yellow rows create the body of the bee; wings are created with Cast On Bullion Knot Stitch; Pistil Stitch provides antennae. Colonial Knots finish the circle. The wings are attached at the edges of the body and are three dimensional. I think you can see that more easily on the right wing. Click on images for a larger view.
Another nod to Spring in the next circle. And I think that cute little bee will be buzzing by very soon. A delicate Chain Stitch surrounds the circle. The floral extravaganza is constructed with a base of Woven Picot which is filled with Fly Stitch and Bullion Knot. Colonial Knots spill over the edges and Detached Chain Stitch supplies the leaves. This is one complicated flower!
I don’t know about you, but this next one pulled me straight out of Springtime and back into winter. A simple Backstitch surrounds the circle and Closed Fly Stitch topped by Bullion Knot Stitch create the snow flake. Brrrr…
The final circle of the second row has serious depth and weight to it. This one also challenged me to place the central design very carefully. I’m rather pleased with my success on that point. Double Cast On Stitch alternating in orange and gray colors command the center of the circle. Bullion Knot Stitch and Pistil Stitch alternate on the outer edge.
Row three is up next! Stay tuned.
Be strong. Be patient. Be kind.

I agree: Spring doesn’t seem far behind while you have this project in hand. Enjoy!

Looks like so much fun. But not for me know. I was dropping off some quilt craft books to a fellow quilter. She reminded me that I taught a post card class and she joined a group 13 years ago. And they are still at it. Fantastic! It really hurt to give my collection away. But it was to other quilters to inspire them.
Love the wool “art”. Maybe one day but not now. Hugs. v

This project isn’t right for everyone. But you can enjoy it vicariously.
