A month or so ago I came across a short poem that demanded my attention. I’ve had it on my desk since first reading it.
How to Recognize Grace by Marilyn Chandler McEntyre
It takes you by surprise.
It comes in odd packages.
It sometimes looks like loss, or mistakes.
It acts like rain or like a sea.
It’s both reliable and unpredictable.
It’s not what you were aiming at or what you thought you deserved.
It supplies what you need, not necessarily what you want.
It grows you up and lets you be a child.
It reminds you you’re not in control.
And that not being in control is a form of freedom.
Keeping a commitment to this blog — really a form of journaling — is part of my sincere wish to be a person who lives in the moment. Being mindful of what is happening — the big events as well as the tiny ones — on a minute-by-minute basis, brings a lot of joy. When I am truly living that way, I see so much more. What some think of as serendipity I think of as being open to seeing possibility and opportunity.
With this in mind a Wishcasting Wednesday post from Jamie Ridler Studios caught my eye.
Today I am wishing for the kind of mindful living that will allow me to recognize the grace I receive in my life.

Thanks for the reminder, Franki. I spend so much time thinking about what my dogs might be thinking. I can imagine them quite readily agreeing with Ms. McEntyre and you about ‘being in the moment.’
Hugs on your anniversary!

Thanks for stopping by and for commenting. It’s always nice to know that what is meaningful to me may strike a chord with others as well.
